Wishing you all the festival of joy and love " Happy ganesh chaturthi" from Ascent BPO Services Pvt Ltd.

Across most of India, Ganesha Chaturthi is a day to call upon Ganesha, the god of knowledge, wealth, and success. On this day, worshippers offer prasad of fruits and sweets, especially modak, which is thought to be Lord Ganesha's favorite, as well as worship Ganesha idols and perform the aarti. Numerous locations create large and small clay statues of Ganesha months in advance, which hundreds of worshippers bring home. After the celebrations are complete, it is traditional to submerge these statues in water while saying a prayer asking the god to provide his believers another chance to see him the next year.

Maharashtra is the state where Ganesha Chaturthi is most popular. It was first observed by Maratha monarch Shivaji and subsequently revived by political activist and liberation fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak. Here, the celebrations span roughly ten days. In the shape of exquisite clay idols, Ganesha, also known as Ganpati, is welcomed into houses and enormous pandals. In actuality, there are other pandals in Mumbai that compete with one another by erecting bigger and more spectacular idols; the finest pandal will also win rewards. Individual homes host nightly prayers and devotions, known as aartis, complete with hymns and melodies. Women create lovely rangolis outside of their houses while decked out in their finest saris and jewelry.

Days one, three, seven, and ten are the idol immersion days. Another elaborate event is the immersion ritual, in which followers of the idol parade joyfully while dancing to the rhythms of the dhol and thumping music. Before submerging the idol in a body of water, such as a lake or the sea, devotees throw gulal at one another and perform a last aarti. The Durga Puja festivities in Kolkata, West Bengal, are akin to the Ganpati festival celebrated in Maharashtra, particularly in Mumbai.
